Virgin Island, Panglao, Bohol

Featured Places

Virgin Island is a hidden oasis in Panglao, Bohol.  Not a lot of people knows about this paradise. During our two-day vacation in Panglao, the pilot of the boat we rented suggested if we’re interested in the idea of docking at the Virgin Island, a sand bar few kilmeters off the shores of Panglao. With 500 pesos, we agreed to have a lunch picnic at the Virgin Island.

The sight of the sand island is such a beautiful experience. Most of us got excited to deep into the shallow pristine waters of the island. One advantage is we were alone in the island.  No other tourists were there to share the island with.

If you’re planning for a trip to Virgin Island, I suggest that you do other side trips before you enjoy the islands’ bach. Dolphin watching in the morning and a visit to the fish sanctuary are among the choices. Sometimes, trips off the beaten path brings wonders to our travels.

The deal was worth it (or even more). With our five hundred bucks, we made our Bohol Trip complete.

    I’ve only been at virgin island once it was the best place i’ve ever been. At that time it’s like my family own the island kasi wala masyadong tao kami lng ng pamilya ko ang nandon pagpunta namin like what you said below the second picture.It’s a really small island you can go around it in less than 20 – 30 minutes but the sand bar is i think half of a kilometer. And even my cousins who already went to Boracay said virgin island is better (sorry sa mga boracay lovers). I really want to go back but I don’t know when. If you go to Bohol be sure not to forget to go to Virgin Iskand……….

    gr8 to hear that..:-)i’m currently working in cagayan de oro, but Panglao is my hometown..took my wedding vows there last may 30 and spent a few hours at virgin island with my hubby and friends..actually, i’ve only known that it’s called virgin island when i’ve talked to a relative who’s a part-time tour guide..it’s locally called “Puntod”..when i’ve searched the net, well, tourists have been referring it as virgin island, but locals don’t have any idea which is which..heheheh

    @ivy: wow thanks.

    Though we’re seeing developments in Panglao, I still got my fingers crossed that in the future, this paradise will remain as it is now today.
